This Weeks Movie Review - 300

I decided to view this movie before checking out the other critics comments, which I often do to get an idea of what I'm planting my butt in a theatre for. Rotten Tomatoes reviewers tomatometer came in at 60%. Not a very good rating for a brilliantly crafted movie. The cgi is a feast for the eyes and sheer glutony for the senses. Since I make my living as a graphic artist I can only say that I wish I could produce such a fabulous piece of art. (Guess I'll need even more computer power). For all you macho men you won't be disappointed. The testerone flows easily throughout the entire movie as buff bodies easily behead their enemies.

The movie gets its title from a historically-inspired comic book written and illustrated by Frank Miller.* It is about the 300 doomed Spartan warriors who march into certain death in the Battle of Thermopylae, 480BC, against a gazillion Persians and lead by none other than an eight foot Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro). Also, for all freedom lovers there is a lesson in here, a small group can make a huge difference, hello. I believe that no other comic book movie to date has even come close to the artistry of this movie, and...a little history never hurt anyone. Definately one that will be added to my dvd collection when it's released. Scores in our group came in at 10,9,8,9,8, and 8 1/2.
