OBLITERATED COMMENT SITES.

Ever post a comment on a site and it says waiting approval. When you come back you find out that your post was never seen again? Many sites do this, patriotupdate, DOMA etc, etc, etc. If you agree with them, your comment will get posted, if you disagree then your opinion doesn't count. What are they afraid of?????? This kind of shenanigans is part of what's wrong with our country. Chaps my a$s.

Illegal Immigration

(click the title for the URL)
I found this article to be VERY interesting and well written on the subject of Arizona's new immigration law. Hopefully the rest of the states can follow suit and begin making everyone in this country legal. Send them home, if they want to come back here legally they can do it thru the proper channels...I vote NO amnesty for criminals, flame me if you want, I'm a legal immigrant and a US citizen.

This Weeks Movie Review - 300

I decided to view this movie before checking out the other critics comments, which I often do to get an idea of what I'm planting my butt in a theatre for. Rotten Tomatoes reviewers tomatometer came in at 60%. Not a very good rating for a brilliantly crafted movie. The cgi is a feast for the eyes and sheer glutony for the senses. Since I make my living as a graphic artist I can only say that I wish I could produce such a fabulous piece of art. (Guess I'll need even more computer power). For all you macho men you won't be disappointed. The testerone flows easily throughout the entire movie as buff bodies easily behead their enemies.

The movie gets its title from a historically-inspired comic book written and illustrated by Frank Miller.* It is about the 300 doomed Spartan warriors who march into certain death in the Battle of Thermopylae, 480BC, against a gazillion Persians and lead by none other than an eight foot Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro). Also, for all freedom lovers there is a lesson in here, a small group can make a huge difference, hello. I believe that no other comic book movie to date has even come close to the artistry of this movie, and...a little history never hurt anyone. Definately one that will be added to my dvd collection when it's released. Scores in our group came in at 10,9,8,9,8, and 8 1/2.

This Weeks DVD Review -- Inside Man

Even if this movie didn't have a top notch cast it would still be a great movie. It has a very clever plot that keeps you guessing. I found it a very intriguing with twists and turns in all the right directions. I have long been a fan of Clive Owen since movies like Closer, Beyond Boundaries, Croupier and Derailed. I've haven't ever really warmed up to Denzel Washington, or seen him in a role that just amazed me. I know you're saying he supposed to be one of the best black actors of this generation but for some reason he just seems "plain jane" and unnatural to me. However, when you add a stellar supporting cast, Willem Dafoe, Christopher Plummer and Jody Foster all is immediately forgiven. Oh, what's it about...Denzel plays a cop and Owen plays a bank robber who is trying to rob New York's biggest bank (ed note: its not your typical cops & robbers movie). Thrown in are the supporting cast all with their own agendas. which are uniquely interwoven into the main plot. Don't miss Owen's opening scene or you'll be sorry at the end. LISTEN CLOSELY, he doesn't repeat it. The DVD has the usual commentary by director, 25 min. of deleted scenes and some other goodies you might enjoy. I give it a solid 8 out of 10. Sorry short review this week, brain death is an ugly thing.

This Weeks Movie Review - Number 23

Although this movie has been poorly panned by critics everywhere, the scores where fairly high in our group. 9,7,7,8,8. The movie did have it's problems and the others were expecting a horror movie. I was expecting a mystery. Which is what it's classification turned out to be. The main comment seemed to be that they liked it's originality. I'm sure that's not the case as there really isn't such a thing as an original idea anymore. It's been thought of before even if it hasn't been done yet. And...I'm sure there are several movies that will correlate with the movie's storyline. Although I thought there were a few spots where Carey tried too hard to act, overall I felt his performance was OK and it was great to see him OUT of his comedic role. My recommendation is if you have another movie you really MUST see, see it first. But, don't discount this movie just because of what "the critics" say. Our scores showed that there must be some value in the movie. Different strokes, eh? I wouldn't rush out to see it again but I'm not sorry I went to see it either. I guess its a call you'll have to make. Next weeks review...300

This Week's DVD Review

Babble was soooo appropriately titled. It received 7 academy award nominations and 7 golden globe nominations. Which tells you that nominations aren't worth crap. I found the movie VERY slow and EXTREMELY tedious. I would call it Crash* in three countries because the idea has already been done, and much better. One reviewer wrote "There's a lot to chew over in Babel. But because it's overstuffed, it also means that there's a lot not worth swallowing. Because of its thematic flaws, Babel isn’t the masterpiece some are claiming. " I wholeheartedly agree. The whole story about the deaf Japanese teen whose only goal in life is to get laid put me totally to sleep. Is sign language the same in Japanese??? I'll have to look that one up. I did totally agree with the way they portrayed the media...always over sensationalizing things and waaaaayyyy off base interjecting fear into the public at large without the facts. Way to go guys! My score on a scale of 1-10.....1 (it did have one character which was well written and well acted, the tour guide). This one gets my stamp of "Worst movie of the century" and is second only to "Lost in Translation" (which really was lost in translation).

*Note: if you want to watch a totally excellent flick on this same order do check out Crash, if you haven't already seen it. A Solid 9!

Movie Reviews

Wild Hogs, I'm a biker dude, I got a tat!

If you're suffering from boredom this movie is a quick pick me up. Aside from the usual homephobia and a few racial slurs it's guaranteed to tickle at least one of your funny bones. I find it ironic that Dudley got an apple logo tattoo and was using a PC, come on prop masters, do your homework. Macey as usual did an absolutely steller job. The only difference I would have made would be to cast someone different for Bobby. The role simply did not fit and I found Lawrence to be the weakest link. Some of the things they did with the bikes made me cringe after my accident last April but the immediate interjection of comedy made it all OK. The scores...out of a possible 10 our group gave it 7,8,7,7,7,10.

I'm OK, I only hurt my face.
